Hey guys, I was just wondering for those who are fortunate enough to have been accepted already for Fall 09, what are you guys planning to do this summer? Volunteer? Research? Relax? Also, for those already in medical school, what do you advise on doing? I kind of want to do something health related, but at the same time, since health will be a part of me for the rest of my life starting in August, I kind of want to just relax and do nothing.

I will be doing non medically related stuff... visiting museums, travelling, and possibly research... but it depends on where I end up...But mostly I will be relaxing...

im still going to keep one of my volunteer places (once a week) and i am going to relax and go on two trips (belize in march and then a cruise). besides that im just going to work to try to pay off my credit cards.
i mean its not required but if you really like the volunteer work/research/etc that you are doing, you can keep it up.

research till June...then hopefully I'll be working as a faculty advisor for the National Youth Leadership Forum on Medicine for at least a month....then I hope to travel...not sure where yet

Travel and research...pretty much the same thing every summer since oh....11th grade. good times tho, good times. Hopefully I can knock out the Eastern block countries and throw in a little bit of Turkey/Egypt in there too.

If you're going to be combining "museums" and "travelling," I just thought I'd chime in to mention the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. I've never been, but it just looks so cool (if you're into aerospace, that is). They've got everything from the Wright Flyer to Spaceship One. Just saying, in case you're going to be in D.C. 😛
