okay, so i need to go from Valhalla (NYMC) to JFK airport.

on yahoo maps it says it is 36 miles and will take about 1 hour.

Now i know it probably takes more then an hour to get there.

I have about 2 hours to get to the airport after interview.
I wanted to know if this was enough time to get there in a cab. I know if i use public transportation i don't have a chance, so i will take cab.

thanks

ps - anyone know how much the cab fare may cost.

What time does your interview get over with? Which day of the week? Is it during rush hour?

I don't see how you have two hours if your interview ends at 1, 1:30 and your flight is at 3:20? You need to be at the aiport at 2:30 at the very latest to make the 3:20 flight, so you only have an hour or so to get there. That being said, it really shouldn't take more than an hour to get to JFK from Westchester, IF there's no traffic (which there shouldn't be at this time). BUT, you can never predict traffic in NYC. If there's a car accident or they closed off a lane or an exit for whatever reason, you'll be completely screwed. While you do have a chance of making your flight, I would suggest you try changing the flight for a later time, and give yourself about two hours for the trip just to be safe.

This flight is ridiculously cheap and the next one is at like 11pm.

I guess i may just pay extra and use the westchester airport.

you could make it in under an hour on a Tuesday at 2pm. Traffic should be problem, as long as you dont go anywhere near the cross bronx expressway. There always traffic on that thing no matter what day or time

jackets, be sure to tell the admissions office either before or as soon as you arrive that you have a flight to catch. Most places will be sure to put you into an early slot/excuse you when you need to go.

consider renting a car instead of taking a cab if you are going to Valhalla. On priceline, you can often get a car for <$25 which will be cheaper than two 36 mile cab rides. Good luck!

Having only 2 hours is risky, even in the afternoon of a weekday, considering that you have to be in the airport at least an hour before yout flight for everything to go smoothly. You never know in New York, sometimes - you get there in no time, but most of the time - there is traffic, accident, construction, whatever.

don't take the chance. NYC traffic is unpredictable. take the later flight.

Id have to agree and say take the later flight. Its sometimes taken me almost 2 and a half hrs to go someplace that should take 45 minutes in and around Manhattan.

It sucks but its probably better to be safe than sorry
