Poll: Who took an MCAT class to prep and who didn't?

Just want to see how the results filter out. Did you take an MCAT prep course (TRP, Kaplan, other), or did you rely on your own studying abilities?

Also, it might be helpful to tell what you got as well. For instance, "Took TPR class, scored 32." (Just an example)

Yes, the 30+ forum would be better to look at since you'll find good advice as well as the info you seek.

AAMC publishes data on performance by those taking a course and not which I can't seem to find but the AAMC MCAT Student Manual states:

"The results of a study comparing the MCAT performance of students who had enrolled in commercial review courses with the performance of those who had not, involving over 20,000 students during a five year period, indicate that gains derived from commercial review courses are small. The gains do not support the contention that review courses provide increased knowledge and facility in test taking. You should realize that the small differences in the score of individuals receiving coaching may simply be due to the time devoted to reviewing relevant material."

That pdf file has links to short practice exams. They are from AAMC 3R so don't do them if you plan to take 3R
