Hi
I posted this earlier but in a different context.
My question to you all is, have you known anyione got in to top schools with similar to my stat?

Undergrad 3.5 GPA
Post bacc. 3.67
overall amcas 3.4
taken MCAT >3 times
numerous EC

My specific question is with a phenomenal MCAT scores, would I have chance of being considered for an interview at any of the top schools? Do you anyone who had?

IT ALL SEEMS TO BE ABOUT NUMBERS and others much less

Thanks much in advance for your input?

Well, I think anything is possible. You sure took the MCAT a lot, though!

Well... it really depends on what your most recent MCAT score is.

However, unless you have like 35 MCAT, your chances don't look too good. Your gpa is a bit low for top schools.

But, yeah, anything is possible... you never know. Just apply and see...

At top schools, it's hardly about numbers: Those are assumed. It is everything else that comes into play. However, numbers are what get your foot in the door..

Just be happy you get into a U.S. MD school w/3+ mcats.

I have to agree. Your LORS play a huge role and what else you've done besides academics.

kimchee is a bit too spicy for me.

hey check out www.mdapplicants.com
i just checked it out yesterday and it was pretty cool to see what profiles got accepted where.

i think you took the mcats too many times. even if you scored well on the mcat-- and i mean 37+, they might just see it as you perfecting the test rather than having the 'intelligence'-- which is wrong, but it can be perceived that way.

and you have to give us info on what you got on your mcat scores to let us hazard a guess, b/c those scores also do count if they're taken within the past 3 years.

but hey, you never know, what if you saved the life of one of the people on the adcoms... it's a crap shoot. but in general, if you were to play the odds, i'd say you'd lose a lot of money/time/effort by applying only to top 20s.

Another factor is where you went for undergrad and post-bac. A GPA by itself doesn't mean anything. At some schools, a 3.5 is average, at others it can be below or above.
Also, what do you consider to be the top 20 schools? I don't think anyone would agree what those schools would be. But any American school is great, that's for sure!

why is everyone so obsessed w/ rankings?. dont let usnews rankings determine which schools are good. the top 20 schools that fit you best might not even be on their list. the bottom line is that your stats are avg, and I seriously think you should be more concerned with just getting into med school (maybe even a foreign med school). by the way, i'd say this thread deserves to be in the top 20 most annoying category.
