Possible to work as engineer while in med school?

I'll have an MS in engineering from a top US school by the time I go to aussie schools.
Is it possible to work as an engineer in med school to earn money and get PR status? Specifically:

1) How hard is it juggle a part time job in med school? I heard aussie schools aren't as time-intensive as US schools.
2) Do I need to work in australia as an engineer in order to apply for PR as an engineer? If so, how much?
3) I know I can lose my international spot in med school if I earn my PR while studying. Is this still true for some schools? If so, can I time my PR application so I can get it in my final year before applying for aussie internships?
