post 1st year France medical school

I've been checking posts about French medical schools. It looks like the first year is really tough and after that it is fine. Then how is it like? I mean the classes and rotations. Would you have extra energy or time to do some part-time job to earn money? Or if I have science background before, can I do some research during these years in a lab and get paid?

I really don't think you can do research in a lab while doing your med training. the thing is the first year is hell it's true ...i'm stuck in it for another three weeks. then the second year is holiday....you can get a job but then after its back to studying studying....
