Hello all,

I exhausted my Ch 30 MGIB and received 12 months of Post 9/11 GI Bill of which I used 10 months before graduating medical school. I thought I recalled something in the benefit program that mentioned paying out benefits to resident physicians. Anyone have any experience with this? It is only 2 months worth but every little bit helps.

Awesome! That link is ultra-helpful. Now I know who to contact as well. Thanks!

Has anyone applied or looked into the possibility of applying their post 9-11 GI bill while completing a civilian fellowship (after ETSing).

As of 1 Oct 2011, veterans (individuals not on active duty) can apply it towards completing an "on the job/apprenticeship" program. See links below.

I am unable open up or find the link the previous poster referenced.

Just go to the GI bill website. Better yet, find the person in your institution's registrar office that handles GI bill/veteran stuff and have them fill out the paperwork.

My understanding is that in order to draw the GI Bill, your program has to be affiliated with a recognized institution. If your fellowship is, and the GME office will do the paperwork for it, then you can. If your fellowship is just with a private practice, they you cannot. That is, unless, you can get that practice on the list of institutions. That may be difficult for a private practice.

I don't understand the difference between the post 9/11 gi bill and the Montgomery gi bill...
