I'm currently a senior in college and will be taking a year off before med school. I've recently gotten an offer to work in a Dermatology lab examining the mechanisms underlying skin cancer. I was wondering, would this research help me for a derm residency if i get a publication? Thanks.

The general consensus for research and residency has been that research in the field is > general research.

and that med student research > undergrad research...

So, its probably helpful in that its research experience and that in no way is going to hurt you.

Though right now, I wouldnt worry so much about getting your Derm residency spot...just worry about getting your medical school spot.
