I'm a sophmore in college, biology major, and have recently wanted to go to medical school....interest sparked by a physiology class. However my grades are subpar and wont be able to get in right out of undergrad. I just wanted to know more about going to a post-bacc program to improve my GPA. Is it possible to go straight out of undergrad and I would have also previously completed all science cores and many electives. Do most have a GPA cut off and are competetive???? Any info on Post-bacc. programs would be greatly appreciated. 😕

HI!
do a search on SDN. there are a lot threads on this.and most them have far more info than i could type out! 🙂

I did a search but was not able to find anything useful

post bacc "programs" are very different. there is a list on aamc.org. you can contact the schools individually. many schools allow you take courses as a non-matriculating student without enrolling in a special program.

Just wanted to know if you can be accepted in to most post-bacc. programs right out of undergrad while also having completed all your science cores.

I started an unofficial postbacc right after graduating by taking my remaining required courses and exter upper levels at a local state uni. If you need the structured program and guidance then there are plenty of programs, but otherwise I would suggest registering at a convenient school and looking through the course catalog.

ooops sorry, didn't read that last post of yours... yeah there 2 types of programs, those that include all the prereqs and those that are mostly for taking upper levels to boost your app/GPA. If you're a minority there's one at SIUC called medprep. here's a link to some postbacc progams:
