Does anyone know any good sites, books or papers that explain or help in managing post-CABG patients (or other cardiac surgeries) including simple explanations of how bypass pump etc works? This would be aimed more towards critical care or cardiologists who will have to manage them post-op. Just looking for some reading material.

Thanks!

There are some good resources on www.ctsnet.com to check out that may be helpful for actual reading material, but in my mind its tough to explain this stuff without seeing it firsthand.

The best place to learn about cardiac surgery is the OR. Even if you just spend 10-15 minutes each time its very valuable. Pop in and see different parts of the case when you can-
perfusion and bypass machine doesnt make sense on paper. good cardiologists frequently come into the OR to check on their patients(when they have time) especially when they are high risk cases and they are always welcome.
