Hello fellow med students,

I'm a 5TH Year medical student, seriously thinking in moving to malaysia. I browsed some Med schools websites and as a matter of fact i got lost! so please i need help finding answers for the following questions:-

1- When I get hold of a bachelors degree in medicine and surgery from Egypt, How can i know if its recognized by any university senate in malaysia ?

2- What is the career path for international post-graduate students ? ( I don't know what is the difference between clinical attachment, clinical fellowship, Master of medicine, Msc, Clinical program)

3- Are there any chances to get a job in Malaysia or the places are hardly enough for Malaysians ?

4- When i get to the point where I'm a certified specialist, is that internationally recognized ?

5- Some universities state that before applying for Master in clinical specialty, I should possess 2 years of clinical experience, How can i get that at a Malaysian hospital ?

Sorry for the many questions, But after my 1 week trip to Malaysia , i fell in love with this country, and i'm looking for all possible ways to pursue studying there.

Any help is appreciated & thanks in advance.

hi solidsnake! i've read a no of your posts and it seems that ya really keen to further your study in Malaysia. I have never been studying medicine there but I know some info regarding its higher education system. If i were not mistaken chances for international students to do their postgrad degrees in public Unis are rather slim, nonetheless, ya may enrol to private medical schools available to further your study. These are private Universities and Colleges in Malaysia that are recognised by the MMC(Malaysia Medical Council)

UCSI University, Faculty of Medical Sciences - School of Medicine
Monash University Malaysia, School of Medicine and Health Sciences
International Medical University,Faculty of Medicine
AIMST University, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences
Management and Science University,Faculty of Medicine
Cyberjaya University College of Medical Sciences,Faculty of Medicine
Royal College of Medicine Perak ,School of Medicine
Melaka Manipal Medical College,School of Medicine
Penang Medical College,School of Medicine

personally, i think chances to practice medicine are big as Malaysia face doctor shortage problem and many non-malaysians indeed are working as medical officers in government and private hospitals. You may checkout Malaysia Medical Resources or its forum websites for further information.
