I think it is about time to start the NYU Dday thread and I thought I would take the liberty to do so.

So, anyone who applied to NYU and has gotten a response..please post whether it is A/W/R and provide us with the date and whether it was email/snail mail.

I wish you all the best of luck.

Well, hope this helps:

Got an email acceptance on 1/22, interviewed on 12/15. Snail mail letter followed about a week after that. I sent in my withdrawl letter today.

G-Luck. :)

jargon -- where did you choose to go??

Anyone else out there who hasn't heard from NYU since their interview -- seems like everyone is getting in after a month and the rest of us are doomed to the perpetual waitlist. Or have people been hearing about post-interview waitlists and rejections?

dear lord jargon..NYU was like my freakin top choice/dream school. i was hoping you'd be accepted there..but you've dropped it? is it possible you'd rather go to Arizona?? or has a better school/place than NYU already accepted you?

the admissions office at nyu said they send out hte majority of their responses on feb. 15 - i guess we should all hope to get some mail on monday or tuesday...
(i'm keeping my fingers crossed!) :p

Actually according to the assistant dean of admission, NYU has already sent out the majority of their acceptances for this year. They usually send out about 350 acceptances and as of last Thursday (when I interviewed), 250 of those letters had already gone out. So I don't think that it's true they're sending out most acceptances after Feb 15th.

Well, I have not yet decided where I will be headed. I have been accepted to Arizona, NYU, and Einstein. I withdrew from NYU and Einstein because I don't prefer either school to Arizona, my state school (lots of reasons for this that I won't go into here to spare you a long post). I am waiting from decisions post-interview from Rochester, Pitt, Sinai, and Columbia. I will withdraw from Pitt and Rochester regardless. If I get into Sinai or Columbia, I will have a tough decision and am really up in the air about it.

NYU is a good school and all, but it just didn't vibe with me personally...and the housing situation was a big turnoff. Anyway, good luck to you all. :)

interviewed 12/1 (or was it 11/30, anyways one of those days), accepted 12/11.. i think i was lucky and interviewed right before the committee met for that month

so far the two acceptances i've held are UC san diego and NYU... hard to decide. prob end up at sandiego... weird thing is that they are ranked exactly the same at #24 (not that rankings should be #1 factor)

then again, maybe ucsf ucla columbia or cornell will take me!!

interview 12/22, acceptance 2/7.

i reread their materials today cause i'm thinking about the school-- they claim to have some rolling admissions but most decisions go out 2/15. my experience is that everyone i know has heard something by 6-8 weeks later. but maybe they're making the rest of their decisions this week.

btw, jargon, why are you considering sinai and not nyu?? just out of curiosity... isn't nyu a 'better' school?

hey alice - PM or email me with your email address and I will send you my spiel on Sinai vs. the other NYC schools...

To let you all know.

I just spoke with a very nice woman in the admissions office at NYU. I said that I am aware of your rolling admissions policy and that interviewees are told that the bulk of acceptances are sent out by Feb. 15th. She corrected me and told me that tomorrow morning THE MAJORITY of acceptances will be sent in the mail. So, from her perspective, NYU will be sending out over half of its acceptances tomorrow. She seemed very confident stating this. So, if no email comes along with it, early next week should be interesting mailbox days.

does this mean we might be getting emails tomorrow????? You only get emails if you're accepted, and you gotta wait for snail mail for rejections and waitlist????? Is that it? Questions questions, waiting waiting - when is this cycle ever going to end?

up up and away
peeps who are in, please post stats

Hmm...perhaps Joel meant that 250 had already been accepted but a good portion of the acceptance letters had not been mailed out yet...
Whatever...like souljah says...should be an interesting week coming up.

someone on interviewfeedback was sent an email on the 13th and told a letter will be arriving shortly.

hmmm...nyu is a bit confusing? agree? they told me that most of the letters will be sent on the 15th. Does that mean most of the emails as well? or have they already done that??

Suspense.

The good thing about NYU, which I heard from a student when I interviewed there last week, is that 50% of the entering class gets in off the waitlist. So don't despair, whatever the letter says.
