I was just wondering if anyone could tell me about the following postbacc programs. I am wondering which one would be the most beneficial.

Ohio State University's MEDPATH Program
UConn's Postbacc Program
Drexel's MSP Program

😀

I really really would like any information that anyone has on these programs. Thanks so much.

UCONN is a very small program that puts you in at Storrs with the undergrads (read large lecture hall experience), not at the health center/med school. If you do well, you're likely to be accepted at UCONN. Contact Keat Sanford at UCONN Med and he will answer any and all questions.

Is the Uconn program only for disadvantaged or URM people? I'm sick of thinking I found a great program for myself - only to inquire about it more and realize they don't accept white people.

The UConn program only accepts about 10-12 students per year out of about 175 applicants. Approximately 5-6 of those students do basic science prerequisites and the other 5-6 do advanced science coursework. I'm pretty sure minority applicants make up a proportion of the 10-12 accepted applicants. UConn also prefers state residents.

Have you considered post-bacc programs in Texas? Financially, this would make more sense for you.

Hope this helps!

Sorry, I responded to "Texasguy." Where are you from MD4Life?

I am currently a post-bacc at UCONN.

The program is not just for URMs or in-state students. All of the info on the program and the options offered can be found at UCONN Med's web site. If you have further questions, contact Dr. Sanford. He is the program director.

The classes are held at UCONN's main campus at Storrs and you will be with grad and/or undergrad students depending on the class. I have had excellent instructors and have enjoyed the program a great deal. I highly recommend it.

Feel free to PM me if you have any other questions.

Good luck finding the best program for you!

Deirdre

BeanBean,
Can you tell me more details about the UConn post bach program? Are you in A or B?

again texasguy, i am not so sure u should be making statements aganist one;s relgion, or race,,
"white ppl" i am not sure u should be saying that , it makes u seem racist, not just discriminatory aganist ppl 's beliefs.
Finally, you never know who reads these threads. It can;t possibly help ur image infront of admission comittee/s .
but then again, thank god for admission comittees they determine who has potential for an MD from millions of others who apply.

Irene,

What are you talking about? If you knew anything about post-bacc programs, you would know that some of them cater to disadvantaged or minority students. This is not a hidden or unspoken rule - it is advertised, often in the titles of the actual programs themselves. Therefore, for me to ask if they accept white people is a valid question. It may seem a bit edgy, so if you or anyone else is offended, I am sorry. Don't call me a racist though. Most of your posts are written in completely incoherrent and rambling English. If I were the discriminatory type I would make fun of you, but I don't. Further, the fact that my screen name is TexasGuy41 should indicate to you that I am not interested in telling everyone who I am.

Personally, TexasGuy41, i don't think your comment was racist adn I am considered a URM. However, there are plenty of postbacc enhancement programs for non-minority students. The best website is from syracuse's premed website. Everyone have a wonderful day.
