I've heard CBTs 7-10 are the most accurate for gaging the actual MCAt. Any truth to that? I did ridiculously poorly on the verbal of the CBT-10, so I'm curiously.

Thinking of taking a practice test today and was wondering which ones I should take.

I have done all of the AAMC CBTs, and if it makes you feel any better, the verbal on 10 sticks out in my mind as particularly tricky. Up there perhaps as one of the more difficult verbals.

So i took the CBT-8 today and scored a 14 on the verbal. So yeah....I went from an 8 on the CBT-10 to a 14.

So come test day I can score anywhere from an 8 to a 14. This is so reassuring...

From what I hear, the AAMC tests are not a true representation of your scores, they are simply a rough estimate.

IE they are not real tests so the scores you get might not be your true score. From what I understand, the AAMC just puts a bunch of random passages together and puts a rough scale on their tests. This is why lots of people do 1-2pts higher on the real deal than their highest practice test.

That being said, since everyone did crappy on CBT10 verbal but had been doing really well on previous verbal exams shouldn't focus on it and just take it as practice.

Actually it means you can score from a 1 to a 15 on test day. I wouldn't rely on those practice exams as a guide to how you will do on the real thing. They are only for guidance. If you have been doing consistantly well in all of them then you are probably ready and will do fine.
