Many of you may remember a photo taken during the Katrina catastrophe in N.O. It's become kind of a classic, and shows a guy looting a bunch of Heineken beer. He's got this bucket full of beer, and even one in his back pocket.

I'm interested is hearing people's opinion on this matter. Do you think it's funny? Or totally off limits given the overall context? Do you feel it's somehow racist?

For those of you unfamiliar, you can do a search for beer looter dude, and will find the picture(s).

I thought the picture was funny. Obviously what happened in N.O. is not funny, but seeing a guy walking around with a bucket of beers after one of the biggest natural disasters in the history of the US makes me laugh a little.


Am I not sensitive enough?

and as far as being somewhat "racist", you can take a lot of pictures and claim it's in some way racist. If it was a white guy carrying a bucket full of beer would it be racist? No, but because he is black some people automatically assume it's racist.

You know what's funny, the people who use racist sterotypes the majority of the time are those who are of that race(dave chappel, carlos mencia, chris rock, etc). It's alright to watch their show and think it's funny, but if you repeat any of it and if you are not of that race, then you are a "racist" 🙄


But, what does this have to do with medicine 😕

anything portraying colored people in a negative light is "racist". i like the looter one too
