Hello all.
I posted the main part of this to the pre-med osteopathic forum, but I think I might get better responses posting here since my question is about school atmosphere. Current med students would know a lot more about that than other pre-meds like myself, I think.
First, a short intro. I'm fairly new to being interested in human medicine. Up until this past summer, I was more interested in going into veterinary medicine. As I watched the politicizing of medicine and various issues that I think should be kept between a doctor and her patient, I decided that I wanted to put myself to be in a position of authority in those issues (aside from my want to help, of course).
I know I would prefer an osteopathic background to an allopathic background, but I have been finding it hard to get in touch with people who know much about particular schools and their social environments. I'd really like to know which schools have good, strong women's health departments and active chapters of Medical Students For Choice. I'd also esspecially love to know about schools that might be affiliated with grad schools that have a Women and/or Gender Studies department or a Women's Resource and Research Center (my current school, UC Davis, has fantastic resources and I fear I may be spoiled).
Thanks so much,
~Larch
