Does this exist? Anyone know which they are?

Prelim programs entering the match are generally going to require interviews. Even the little community hospital prelim places still interview. The only way you get around the interview probably is to register with the match, but then snare something in the scramble. In the scramble, places often have to make decisions based on your paper application and a quick telephone call with you, so you may never have to set foot in the hospital before orientation week.

I do caution, however, that medicine is a very communication oriented field, and so if you can't pull off a 40 minute interview passably, you aren't going to get by as an intern, where you will be constantly dialoguing with attendings, residents, nurses, patients and families, 80 hours/week.

Yeah, thanks. I'm perfectly CAPABLE of interviewing. It's completely a time issue given that I've applied to 20+ advanced programs and 20+ prelims all over the country trying to end up in the same city as my other half. I can't physically interview at 3-4 prelim programs in every city we might end up ranking.

Lots of people who apply for advanced programs spend a ton of their fourth year interviewing -- it's part of the game. You really aren't going to land anything suitable without giving them the time of day. So you can be choosy, but you are still going to have to go on a lot of interviews. Sorry.

Again, understood. Not trying to be whiney and am already planning on interviewing at lots of programs. I just thought I could ask and see what all was out there.

ANYWHO - if it helps anyone else, I found out that Vanderbilt (which I hear is a great medicine program) doesn't interview for prelim spots. If anyone happens to know of others, I'd love to hear it. If not, I shall happily continue on as before...

Harbor-UCLA prelim med and transitional year don't require interviews. They have an optional info session though and yes, it is optional and not a trick. I think there is another prelim in northern CA that also doesn't require one... Alameda maybe.

Also, many programs which have designated prelim years will often slip a single IM interview into your advanced program interview day. But programs which just don't interview at all are rare.

I would also suggest that the quality of your co-interns is going to hugely impact your daily life, and so anything a program does to ensure a good crop of interns end up working in your favor. The last thing you need is someone who cannot pull their weight on your team, even if it is for only a year. Places not interviewing, and thereby not screening for the obvious "tells", probably maximizes the chances of this.

I have an interview here later in the month

Actually it's an information session, business casual dress. Anyone already do this and mind sharing what they wore and what the day is like. Don't know what to expect. thanks
