Hi all:

I am writing this on behalf of my wife. She finished her medical school in Bangladesh in 1997. She was thinking about taking pre-requisite courses and then apply to Pharm.D programs. But now, she is thinking about taking USMLE.

A little background. We have a 3 year old child. My wife is currently not working..she stays home with our daughter.

I was wondering if anyone could give practical advice as to how to most effectively prepare for USMLE I/II. She will take USMLE I first. She has most of her books (BRS, NMS, First Aid etc). She is thinking about going through the BRS books and then solve questions. One subject at a time. Is this a good strategy?

I don't think she feels comfortable enough to jump right into question banks.

Also, finding enough time to study is tough. I am thinking 30 hour/week for six months for each part of USMLE. Not sure if that is enough. She is very thorough when she studies. But she is a bit slow in reading BRS books etc.

Any general advice would be greatly appreciated....if you have recommendations on prep-materials etc.

thanks and hope to hear from you soon.
