I'm just done with my 1st year of prereq. I haven't taken the PCAT yet, my gpa is 3.9, and I've been volunteering at the outpatient pharmacy of the hospital since January. Here is the list of schools I will be applying to this summer. The schools are in in order of which school I like to get in the most. I don't have alot of money, so I only apply to out-of-state schools that do not require interview. If somebody can tell me my chances to get into those schools, that would be great, so I know what to expect, and not get my hopes up 🙁
1. UNC at Chapel Hill (in-state, my dream school, enough said)
2. University of Michigan (no interview, don't know if I'll get in)
3. Campbell University (in-state, 1 hour from home)
4. Long Island University (no interview, the idea of living in NY seems interesting)
5. Wingate University (in-state, new school, should be back-up school)
6. Creighton University (no interview, the downside of is the school is in Nebraska, another back-up school)

Creighton gives you the option to attend the college via the internet, with your lectures completed online, and I believe you'd have to fly out to Omaha for a few weeks each summer to do your labs. Check their website for more details.

Wow, thanks, I didn't know that. I'm not sure if I'm gonna do good learning over the internet though. I'll be taking a class over the internet this summer. I'll see how that works out.

I think you have a really good chance of getting in Creighton University. I applied there this year as a back-up (3.5 GPA, 81 PCAT, one year of outpatient pharmacy experience) and was accepted in March. I actually won't be going there but a friend of mine will, so if you have any questions I can forward it to her 🙂

Good luck!! :luck:

I'll be applying to the University of Florida, either their Orlando or St. Pete satellite campus.

so me and michele are the only people applying for the incoming class of 2005? 😕

I'll be a reapplicant most likely. I still haven't narrowed down the schools I'll be applying to but probably most in California and some out of state that don't require the PCAT.

I'm contemplating whether or not I should apply this year. If I do, I'm considering applying to USN. According to the requirements on their website, I'll be done with all of the classes listed by the end of Spring next year. So I'll see.

Why would you limit yourself like that? The PCAT is not that big of a deal, and a strong score could increase your chances of getting admitted. I don't think it's wise to let one four-hour exam dictate where you'll go to school for the next four years.

Is it possible to get into pharmacy school if you have a good gpa, but not so good PCAT score (70s percentile) ?

i'm actually still confused but which schools to apply myself. Does anyone knoe which schools don't require PCAT? not that i'm only narrowing down those schools....its just for my own knowledge ya know.. the things that actually scare me PCAT and the interview. I think Albany doesn't require an interview or PCAT.. anyone correct me if i'm wrong please.. thanks!

I'll be applying to the University of Kansas.

I'm applying to the University of Kentucky and that's it. Cross your fingers that I get in.

What about USC or MUSC?

Let me add that USC doesn't require an inteview (although I think it's a good idea to have one), doesn't require the PCAT, and if you are a scholarship recipient, even as an out-of-state student you receive a reduced tuition rate (about 1300 more than instate tuition/semester). Lots of people get scholarships, and they try to give them to out of state students first to reduce their tuition.

wow, thanks spacecowgirl, I didn't know that USC doesn't require interview. I will definitely add the school to my list then. 🙂

I definitely agree with spacecowgirl that you should apply to MUSC and USC. MUSC also has a program that allows out of state students to pay in state tuition after the first year! Good luck with the application process. 🙂

If you want more info on USC (anyone) PM me.

I'll be applying to University of Florida, Jacksonville Campus.

Michelle, it appears that we have alot in common! At the age of 40 I decided what I want to be when I grow up! I am married with 2 children.

I am applying at Creighton. I thought about applying to the St. Pete campus of University of Florida, but I finally decided on Creighton, because of the year round course. The same amount of credits are spread out over 3 semesters instead of 2, so less stress for me. I have a daughter and a full time job, so I prefer the Creighton setup over UF or FAMU

Hey BlackBeansRice,
I was a little confused with Creightons admission requirements. Are the 6 hours of theology for creighton prepharm students only? Have you applied there yet?

Hey BlackBeansRice,

I also live in Land O Lakes and I attend UF St. Pete campus. Send me a PM if I can help you with anything.

Hi,. I'm an international undergraduate students.. i've just finish 30 units of courses In sfsu.. I;ve been searching for pharmacy school to apply to..and hopely find one in massachusetts.. does anyone noe the reputation of MCPHS ( 👍 / 👎 )? how's the application process there? is it hard there? 😕

thx..

Val3ntina33,

It is not hard at all if you have a decent GPA. Within 1 week of receiving my completed application, they invited me to an interview as a transfer student. So, do not get too stressed out, okie? 🙂 Hope this helps.

Also, do consider applying to Northeastern U. as well. They have a pretty good PharmD program there as well. BTW, Northeastern U. is also located in Boston, MA.

Good luck!

:luck: Thank you So mUch De Javu

actually, My gpa is currently 3.26. i got B+ in gen. Chem I and II, B+/B calc I and II and C+ for O.chem I.. unfortunately that;s the only science classes i;ve been taken. do u think i should apply for PharmD program for fall 2005 or I should just wait for the spring 2006..

You don't have to take theology if you're not a Creighton pre-pharmacy student. I asked the same question last year when I applied.

If you have any other questions about Creighton, feel free to ask! I recently declined their acceptance but since I went through the whole application process, I know a thing or two 🙂 Plus one of my best friends will be going there this fall, so I can always forward your question(s) to her.
