Preventive Medicine Residency and MPH

If I plan to go into preventive medicine do I need to obtain an MPH during med school? Or will this take place during my GPM residency anyway?

If my med school is willing to fund the MPH year, is it worth doing the MPH while in med school? Can I do a preventive residency without doing an MPH?
