Anybody complete at Pritzker and received no response from them whatsoever? I was complete around 24th or so and haven't heard a squat. I need a decision, don't care if it's a rejection at this point, just any decision. I am going nuts, here. Please share your frustration if you are waiting on Pritzker.

So, you've been complete for, like, a week and a half. That's not long at all. Have a little more patience and you're more likely to keep your sanity.

I dont remember when my application was complete. I got an e-mail the other day saying they were holding it for later review.

But to my dismay, I found out from other SDNers who got interviews from U Chicago that they only had to wait for average of 10 days at the most (some of them were completed after me). Only people with either rejection or hold had to wait longer. Thus, I am concluding that my rejection letter is somewhere between Chicago and NY, taunting me. Please, just end my misery. 🙁

PS: I am only obssessing about this school. 'Cause this is my top choice.

All right! A successor to the "Waiting on Vandy" thread, of which I was also a proud member. (Finishing Prizker's secondary felt even better than turning in Vandy's blasted novel. I stared at that horrible last essay for a couple of weeks before finally getting it done.) I was just complete 9-2, so I may be camping out here for a while. Pillow... blanket... ahh, that's better. Let the waiting begin!

Let's see...I would love to go into academic medicine, which Pritzker is awesome at...endless research opportunities and they go all out to encourage their students...I like the fact that Pritzker treats med students as colleagues, not just as trainees...they also seem to like people who took 1-2 years off before med school, which I think makes for a more diverse class and I like that...though I don't like the Hyde Park area, I liked Chicago in general...so there. 😀

I think I might just do that. Kinda nervous about them telling me, "The decision has already been mailed out to you (meaning= You got rejected, dude. Just leave us alone.)." Oh well, I will let you know what happens.

That's really a bummer, I'm sorry. But you have interviews at other really great schools, right? Hyde Park sucks anyway -- you don't want to be there. This may be a bad time to ask, but what did you say to the admissions lady when you called to ask? Were you tactful or did you just say, "so ... am I in or am I out?" I'm thinking about calling NU cuz I've been complete since 8/6 and people complete on 8/20 are getting interviews, but I don't know what to say.

Nothing really tactful. I just said, "If it's not too much trouble, could you check the status of my application?" After that, they did the talking and I just listened. Hope you get a better outcome at NW than I did at Pritz.

So...I got an email on 8/30 saying my file for Prizker is complete...but I definately had my app and LOR in by 8/16...were they just saying 'complete' as in 'completly REJECTED'!?

No they weren't saying that. I think you're being paranoid. Just because your stuff was supposed to arrive at the Admissions Office on the 16th doesn't mean they recieved it and processed it that day. I think an E-mail saying "you're complete" means precisely that. So your application was complete 8/30. On 9/20 you can start to panick.

VFrank is exactly right, complete means complete. I would start worrying if you don't get an email from them whithin the next 10 days or so (by around 9/10). This is my theory.

I 100% agree about the paranoia. It's like the application process has turned me into a different (and much less cool ^_~) person. Either way, I think you're both right; I'll start to worry around next week. Great.

Also, gotta agree that while once in a great while SDN proves useful, it infact has served mostly to forcing me into obsession. When (if) I recieve my first acceptance, I believe I will join a 12 step program to kick this nasty SDNdiction we've contracted.

This whole waiting game sucks..UChicago is one of my top choices too; I love the teaching and research emphasis. I was wondering, do you think it would help if I updated them that I recently got an abstract published?

...and yes, SDN does have some very useful information, but the addictiveness is horrible...we most def could use a detox.

Yeah, I hear ya. I ended up on hold after waiting for over 2 weeks. So is hold status just another way of saying that they'll most likely reject me in March?

Nasdr, I WISH I'd end up on hold...I don't think it's an automatic rejection. At least when you're on hold you can send in extra info to kinda plead your case and hopefully get an interview. It's a lot better than a rejection.

I really wouldn't start worrying if it's 9/20 and you still haven't heard anything - you'll never survive the process if that's how you think. I know it's hard not to be anxious but you can't make yourself crazy. Some schools take months to get to your application while others might re-review your file multiple times before they invite you. There's really no way of knowing what's going on unless the school decides to tell you (as some do). At a lot of these schools, no news is good news. It seems especially true at UChicago which seems to reject fairly quickly after initial review. In any case, best of luck.

To those who are or have done the secondary, did you add additonal comments? I'm squeezed pretty dry after all those questions. But did you guys also comment on how wonderful the school is, curriculum, research, etc is as well? I always feel so dumb talking about how fantabulous everything in their program is. Anyways, that's just me. Thanks.

hey, girlie...pritzker rejection was tough to swallow. but got over it relatively quickly. all i know is that when i win that nobel prize, my speech will say, "sorry pritz, i could've been one of your distinguished nobel laureate alumni." 😀 hope i hear something from philly schools. they have been ignoring me for some time now.


To peeps who got a hold on Pritzker:
I hear that they only place about 200 people on hold and give interviews to about 50 out of that 200 in Jan or Feb. So you guys still have mucho hope! Good luck. It's an awesome school.

You have awesome stats! You will probably get in soon. According to the US News, Pritzker ultimately accepts more than 1/2 of the interviewed people. That's an odd that I will bet on. 😀
