Private Practice

Does anyone have any idea how much it costs and how much it takes to open your own practice? I am sure it varies from state to state and depends of how big or small you want your office to be. Can anyone give any insight into private practice?

Along those same lines, I was wondering what life is like in an association and in a large HMO.
