What are some professional licenses and certificates that someone who has a bachelors degree in a non-therapy related field would be eligible to get prior to applying to OT school? I was thinking that first aid and CPR certification might be one. However, I was wondering if there are others that might relate more closely to the field of OT. I am willing to take short courses or do volunteer work in order to get certifications. Does anyone have any suggestions of what would be some good certification opportunities?

Is the "certifications" section of the OTCAS application only for professional certifications such as CPR, first aid, instructor certification etc., or would it also be ok to include in this section the completion of a short course in disabilities studies that was taken online through a nonprofit organization? The organization that provides this course sends an email certificate of completion to participants, and they call it a "certification" course. However, I am unsure whether this type of certification is considered professional certification. What makes certification be considered "professional?"

I would think if they gave you a certificate and you have a certification number on it then it would go in the professional certifications section
