here's my situation:

i've been out of school since 2002 and have good experience in non-profit + clinical jobs, but i've got zero research experience (other than the minor research required for psych majors at my school).

i was going to try to find either a job or volunteer position in a research lab for the upcoming year. should i mention this in my personal statement to cover all bases or is it something that can wait to bring up in secondaries/interviews? as it is now, my ps mainly talks about social aspects of medicine and is minimally scientific.

Put the college research experience in your EC list. Leave it out of the PS. You can always send an up-date to your file after you have 3 mos. experience in research.
