Hello!
I'm strongly considering getting a degree to be a PMHNP post-college. If there are any current such professionals on this board, I'd love to hear from you about the best and worst parts of your job. I think it's the exact right job for me-- I love excitement, abnormal psychology, pharmacy, dealing with difficult people, teamwork, don't want to work more than 40-45 hrs/week, and the coursework looks super interesting.
The only thing holding me back is the fact that direct-entry NP programs are such specific degree programs. I feel that since I'm not interested in any other area of medicine, it's very important that I'm aware of all the pros and cons of getting into this area before I spend 3 years getting educated in it.
Also, does anyone have a comprehensive list of states that allow independent practice for psychiatric NPs? I'm having trouble finding that list anywhere on the internet.
Thank you for your feedback!
