Hey! I just wanted to get yalls attention. Well, I am from Texas and I have never been to the eastern states of this great country before. Has anyone out there interviewed at the MCP, Temple, or Jefferson. I heard that a few of these schools were in the "not so nice" part of Philly. Can any of you tell me about these 3 schools. By the way, my ex girlfriend is driving me crazy.

have you seen this website:

your psycho ex girlfriend can't possibly be as psycho as that! :)

With the exception of Jefferson, none of the medical schools in Philly are in the 'nice part of town.'

Temple is in North Philly and Penn is West Philly, neither of which are particularly savory parts of the city. . .

Well I will and work in Philly.

I think only MCP and Temple are in bad parts of the city. Temple you should invest in a bullet proof vest. Not Really but I don't feel comfortable everytime I go up there.

MCP is small so they really don't have a campus so there is no protection.

Penn is in West Philly but it is a city in itself.
The Penn area is a very nice part of the city.

Jefferson is in I guess the sort of nice part of Philly. It is close to city hall and many of the bussinesses on Market Street.

Philly really only has a couple of nice sections.

I think it is a fairly safe city. I rollerblade to work and about everywhere else. I have had automatic gunfire outside my apartment. My APT was broken into and just yeaterday somebody busted the window of a car and took the radio right in front of me.

so mcp is not in a nice part of town? my pre-med advisor has talked me into applying there b/c they have a history of accepting applicants from my school. however, i am not too keen on going anywhere that is not safe. i feel like i'm such an easy target for violence and harrassment and really don't feel comfortable in unsafe areas. does anyone know any lower tier schools that are in decent locations? right now i'm applying to: nymc, university of vermont and loyola. i am hoping to find one more to apply to... how about saint louis university or finch?

I know all to well about psycho ex's. My ex tried to put a hit on my head for leaving her <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="eek.gif" /> CRAZY A$$SSSS B......

Lola:

I would not put loyola in your lower tier schools.
Loyola is difficult to get into. I think it's much harder to get into than MCP.

The Avg GPA at MCP is 3.4 and 3.65 at Loyola.

NYMC (which I'm going to next year for right now) would probably be a good choice along with U of Vermont.

What are your Stats?
You might want MCP on the list as a backup.
