Hi everyone,

I have questions about whether or not these psychology courses might count for the science GPA. I just want to be absolutely sure because I don't really have any space to take non science courses. These courses are UCLA courses if any UCLA premeds have had any experience with them.

The first course is Psych 127B - Abnormal Psychology: Biological Bases
Study of biological substrates of abnormal cognition, behavior, and mood, with particular focus on neuroscience, genetics, physiology, and anatomy of clinical disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression, and substance disorders.

Second is Psych 115 - Principles of Behavioral Neuroscience
Nervous system anatomy, physiology, pharmacology, and their relationship to behavior.

They seem like BCPM to me... not sure though. Thoughts?

psych courses are not automatically counted into bcpm. you have to request someone (i guess aamc) to count them in, but only some may work.

If you think it's BCPM, then list it as such on your application. The most AMCAS will do is switch it. I listed a few PSY- courses as BCPM and they went through fine.

This.

I counted at least 4 or 5 non-BCPM courses as BCPM when I felt it was appropriate.
