Anyone know a good website or phone number to find out about the national public health service or a similar international scholarship program? Have any of you done this?

There are two separate agencies in the U.S. government. The National Health Service Corps .is a program of the Federal Health Resources and Services Administration under the Department of Health and Human Services. They offer loan repayment programs for physicians wishing to practice in underserved areas. They also offer a scholarship program for medical students that will practice in underserved areas after they complete their medical education.

The Public Health Service is the only non-miliatary uniformed service of the U.S. administrated under the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. The Surgeon General is the the head of the Public Health Service. The Public Health Service offers loan repayment programs as well.

These are not international but in-country programs for citizens of the U.S. only.

I receive the IHS Scholarship, which is under the PHS. The IHS maintains a website at www.ihs.gov that is very informative. This scholarship is available to Native Americans and Alaska Natives only.
