i was wondering if anyone got into a public school OUT OF STATE, but NOT one that was in their own state... it seems like public schools try to promote admission of in-state students, but i was wondering if anyone was the exception to the rule...

I applied to a school in Texas, got an interview, and was accepted even though I was not a resident of Texas. So it is possible.

i know its possible, but i'm wondering if anyone got into a public school out of state but DID NOT get into a public school IN-STATE.. it seems as if that if you have good enough grades to get into public schools out of state, than you most definitely have a chance at getting into your own state's public school(s)...

my post was in regards to anything that contradicted this: someone who couldnt get into their own state's public school but into another state's public school

I'm sure it's happened. Especially for people who have only one state school or are from California, etc. Just because you can get into one school, doesn't mean that everyone wants you. 🙂 About 1/2 of my class (private) is from out of state.

I guess I should have read your post instead of just skimming it. I did my undergraduate with a couple of people that were denied to instate public school and were accepted to another state's public school. It baffled me as to how it happened, but it did.
