How is publishing in a medical school journal that doesn't have an impact factor for application to residency? Does it help, a lot or a little or is it as good as useless?
that's probably dependent on individual residency sites/directors.
personally, i think med student journals are essentially a cute idea but worthless. there are LOTS of journals in EVERY field because publishing research is just shy of being an academic pyramid scheme, so aim for something low if you have to, but go for a real journal. talk to your mentor and just ask him/her "what journals would realistically consider publishing this paper?"
