So I'm wondering if its ok to call medical schools to see if my application is complete? I have emailed them but some of the schools do not respond to my emails. Maybe this is stupid, but do you think anytime someone calls to check their status the school puts that on record? I don't want to be seen as being obsessed and impatient, but I just want to make sure my recommendations were received.

so i know its a bit early in the process to be *that* student, but i have called a couple schools to check on the status. i have been having major problems getting mail, and the ones that say they send cards i get worried about. i called 2 of the schools about 3 weeks after they should have received all of my info.... thank god a lot of schools have online status pages/email

calling schools shouldn't be a problem, as long as you're not harassing them about whether you'll hear about an interview soon. Like the previous poster, I've called two schools to check whether they actually received my apps about 2.5-3 wks after I sent them. I've also been having mail problems: I did "delivery confirmation" for one of my schools and USPS never actually updated the status of the package, so I was worried about whether I needed to send another one. The med school admin people I called were really helpful about it. (They do make a note of your call.) Hope this helps. Good luck.

Better to call than to find out later that your stuff got lost in the mail.

I called every single school I applied to yesterday, they were all very nice about it. If you call once or twice I don't think they mind. But if it comes to the point that they actually remember you from the last time you called....maybe you should relax.

Just don't try calling NYU, they're the most arrogant a$$holes I've ever talked to.
