Hi all,

I was accepted to Georgia State University's Clinical-Community Ph.D. program with great funding and great enthusiasm from my POI. I am on the waiting list for another school but it looks likely I'll accept GSU's offer.

Just wondering, for those of you who have been in the field for a while, is GSU's reputation well-renowned in the clinical psychology world/academia? They have excellent internship match rates and established professors but wanted to see if there's anything I'm missing out on or should know before accepting the offer.

thanks!

GSU was my UG institution!

I worked very closely with Dr. Perilla who is in the community program. The university's UG program is mediocre/average, but the grad program and students there were great. There are many great practicum sites in the area and the urban campus allows a lot of great training with under served populations. A friend of mine who earned their PhD from GSU has a great job at the CDC and couldn't have been happier with the program. PM me if you have any questions, although I only attended for UG I'm quite familiar with their grad programs.

The program has a good reputation and good research opportunities. Where their reputation falls down in my eyes is that they failed to accept me all those years ago after making me write an additional 12 pages of essays for their application. Had they accepted me, they would have been that much of a better program 😀. Really though, I recall that they had an amazing learning disabilities lab there.

Thanks everyone (or should I start saying y'all now? 😉) I accepted the offer and your feedback was helpful - much appreciated.
