Hi folks, Does it really matter if the university IM program also offers fellowship trainings? Im looking into going for a competetive Fellowship and I just wonder would I have a better chance if my program also has that subspecialty fllowship? Or it doesnt really matter as much.
best of luck to everybody...

Depends on who you ask, there are people at Community programs and University programs that do not have the fellowships that get them, but everyone I have talked to said that you have a better chance if you go to place that has the fellowship. The logic being that most programs tend to take their own graduates into fellowships. I have no idea how true this is, but it stands to reason - just like they say the best way to get a residency is to do an away elective there. Just my two cents, but what the hell do I know, I am applying just like you. I am just attempting to avoid studying, by posting...
