I found a contradiction and I'm not sure which one is correct.

    Q325 on Destroyer (2012) says:
"Phosphate is an abundant anion in cells and will act as the major intracellular buffer."

Q14 on the 2009 ADA test asks:
Which of the following is a major intracellular buffer?
    A. TRIS
    B. Acetate
    C. Phosphate
    D. Bicarbonate
    E. Calcium carbonate

    Can someone help please?

You are confusing Bone Growth vs Bone Modeling. Growth takes place at the Epiphysis (Epiphyseal growth plate). Modelling is more active during childhood and adolescence and allows long bones to increase in diameter, change shape and develop marrow cavity. Modelling will continue throughout adult life.

      Hope this helps.

You are looking at 2 different questions. There is a difference between Intracellular buffer and Intercellular Buffer.

INTRACELLULAR BUFFER is a phosphate buffer.

INTERCELLULAR BUFFER ( Interstitial fluid - ISF) is a Bicarbonate buffer.

        Hope this helps.

He wrote intracellular for both questions.
