Please answer following question and explain for me

1. Sarah’s uncle is coming for a visit. She hopes he’ll arrive on a weekend day
when she’s not in school.
Uncle James could show up any day; you just never know.

b. two out of five
c. two out of seven

2. Pedro’s big sister is coming home from college. She phoned and said she

that she’ll arrive on Saturday?
a. one out of two
b. two out of five

d. one out of five

3. I’m thinking of the name of a day of the week. I’ll give you a clue: There’s
a letter u in the name. You get one guess. What’s the chance you’ll guess
right? (This assumes you don’t disregard the clue.)
a. one out of seven
b. four out of seven
c. three out of four
d. one out of four

4. Diana’s birthday is in July. My birthday is in July. What is the chance that

These are really basic. They're making me think I'm missing something, but here:

1. 2/7 (there's two weekend days in a week)

2. 1/2 (she'll arrive on the weekend, Saturday or Sunday, there's only 2 possibilities)

3. 1/4 (with the clue, you figure out that it's either Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday or Sunday... then you have a 1 in 4 chance to guessing the correct answer right)

4. 1/31 (think of it as: if you got to pick your bday to be any day in July, what's the probability that you'll pick the same day as her bday? It doesn't really matter when her bday is, it's still only 1 day out of the month)

For what it's worth, when i took the DAT in 2008 there wasn't really anything that simple (but confusing due to the simplicity) that i remember.

lol i hope they are that easy on the DAT but i highly doubt it. But it's a good way to get thinking about probability for beginners.
