so my understanding is that blood loss causes iron deficiency causing difficulty in heme production causing smaller red blood cells since there are less hemoglobin molecules in each cell causing microcytic anemia. however, i read that macrocytic anemia can also be caused with rapid production of red blood cells since when they are first produced, they usually are larger than "normal"red blood cells. my question is, why doesnt blood loss thus cause larger red blood cells with a smaller concentration of hemoglobin rather than microcytic anemia.
thanks in advance
