does anyone know reasons for a school sending decisions letters out weeks after the amount of time they say they send out letters? for instance, a school says it sends out letters 4 weeks after the interview, but doesn't send it out until 7 weeks after?

could be lots of things, rich. If your interviewer is ill, that will delay your post-interview review. Or problems getting the adcom together for some reason or other. Or backlog of applications for the review committee post-interview (I hear at one point VCU was 4 weeks behind - this can happen if there is lots of discussion on certain applications chewing up lots of time).

If in doubt, call them and ask. Just say something like "they said it would be 4 weeks for letters to come out, and it's been 5... I just want to know if the letter got lost by the post office, or something." If you don't blame it on them, they're usually quite accomodating and forthcoming with information.

My Rush decision was a few weeks late. I was starting to get worried, but it came. I did call them eventually to see if a decision had been made, and they said that it hadn't, but they were very nice to me on the phone. Hang in there, it'll come!

P.S. I like the DMB reference in your user name.

thanks guys. i emailed them and they said it would be about 2 more weeks (a total of 7) til i get a letter. i'm just really anxious at this point.
