What is a typical work week like for someone doing a family practice residency? typical day, hrs., etc. Any help would be appreciated. Is there any time available to spend with your own family, etc?

Check in the residency forums. This thread will likely be moved at some point.

Yes, check the FM forums for sure. The short answer to your question: highly variable depending on particular program AND what service you are on for a given month. I happen to know the FM residents at my institution never get near an average of 80hrs/wk for a month b/c they told me this was the case.

I don't know an FM, but the Internal Med doctor I shadow typically works approx 50 hrs her week (now that he has a 2nd doctor with him in the office, it kinda helps me take off some pressure)....before he hired some help, he said he was easily pushing over 60

I know your asking about FM, but I think IM and FM (Correct me if Im wrong people) but when it comes to owning your own office, they are very much the same
