I know that Tulane will not accept you if you have started a masters program but did not complete it. Are there many other schools with this policy?

Yeah, I think almost all schools require you finish whatever degree your are in the middle of obtaining. Between me, my roommate, and my bf who all applied this past cycle while in grad school there were about 30 schools that specifically mention it. If you want to know about a specific school I guess you can call but I think chances are they will tell you the MS needs to be done if you have started it.

Oh yeah and all the schools that we have gotten into required us to send official transcripts with confirmation that each degree was conferred.

I think if you put down that you are doing a master's, you need to finish it before matriculation. Schools will say in the acceptance that they expect you to finish your undergrad or grad. studies before matriculation. I have reason to believe that one of the schools I am on the waitlist for is being held up partly because I hadnt finished my master's (they wanted to see my grad. transcript). Luckily, I just finished my defense and got my M.S. so hopefully that will help me.

I think all schools require you to finish the degree that you are working on. I defend my masters thesis at 3:00 today!

I probably would not have been as motivated to finish it if I could have have put it off for a few more months.
