My dad is an alumni of Tufts and I was wondering if any of you knew if they factored in any sort of legacy in the admissions reviews? Basically, if it would help combined with good BCPM GPA and MCAT (29+)...

Just curious. I wouldn't be applying till 2010, though...too far away...:(

Unless there's a Mr. Jaboyak room in the library, I doubt it would carry a whole lot of weight in terms of admission. Might make a nice talking point, but I doubt it will kick open any doors.

Your Dad was an MD from Tufts? I have a hunch med schools care a lot less about undergrad alums as opposed to medical school alums...

Tufts really loves double Jumbos (undergrads/MDs). As far as legacy from med school, I agree that it doesn't count as much as undergrad. But it also doesn't hurt.

Tufts has a horrible endowment though, so they really like keeping it in the family in order to keep more money in the family. So you never know.... I would definitely apply if you're interested. In four years.

Notdeadyet, agreed. I'm at U of A for my undergrad. I'm talking about applying to Tufts School of Medicine. :)

Ahahahha 90210, awesome! Hey make sure you bring it up, it may be the 1 thing that puts you over. I agree with everyone else in that I don't think it makes a huge difference, but it might do something. Someone mentioned a good way to put it, is that a school like tufts gets a great number of applicants falling in that range of 29-30 mcat with average to barely above average gpa... Very long list, it just may put your name at the top of that list in order to be reviewed more closely. Goodluck
