Hi, I am in a dilemma. I had asked my profs a month and half ago for the letter of recommendations. however, two of them who know me really well, one prof is director of humanities dept and another is a TA who is going to co-sign with a sci prof, haven't turned the letter of recc in. How can I ask them politely to write them quick as I will be getting my secondaries in few weeks? Because they know me really well, i can't email them and say,
" Oh if u need additional info about me I can provide it so that it helps u in writing a letter of recc". I already emailed one prof about 3 times and he is not replying at all, I emailed another and he hasn't replied, and I am at my wit's end. I am starting to get frustrated with emailing my profs multiple times and still not receiving any replies from them. And I am a bit worried that if I email them one more time, they will get mad and decide not to write me a letter of recc.

That sucks.
Well, it is summertime and it seems like professors and TAs go off in Lala land during break. My advise: send them a thank you letter via regular mail. If you can, send it to their home address if you can find it. Its possible they'll get they'll get the letter and feel guilty or stupid and then get to it.

Are you still near your campus? Go ask them! They're people, too.

Go and see them. Some people don't read emails regularly. Also, people tend to do things to deadlines. They are thinking med school in over a year is a long time away. Tell them about the letters being requested (eg schools that automatically request secondaries if you haven't already got the requests), or tell them you need it by such and such a date for a scholarship application or something. People will generally move it up their "to-do" list if there is a concrete reason such as a deadline rather than when they think it's ages away (as in the latter case they may think you are just being neurotic....)

I had the same problem. One prof i was close enough with I just called... but she's a total scatterbrain and used to people reminding her about stuff.

The other prof i just wrote and email saying, yada yada im finally settled at my summer job, amcas submitted, nice to have world slow down, yada yada thanks again for writing a letter on my behalf .

I don't necessarily know they haven't written it yet 🙂
