Question About Undergraduate Research

I got selected as an undergraduate research assistant, which will be, essentially, volunteer work. My question is if this is a valid source of volunteer hours as I'll be committing a large chunk of my time (1500 hours). Will this be able to replace most my volunteer hours that most students get from clubs and/or a hospital? Of course I'll still try to get 10-15 shadowing hours and 100~ clinical hours by the time I graduate.

You will want to get some specific experience in a clinical setting. What you have going on would definitely fall under research experience. Most research is on a volunteer basis.
