Hi.

I took August MCAT and I scored below '7' in verbal. Therefore, I didn't complete most of the secondaries I had originally planned to.
Today, I received a letter from Vanderbilt asking me to schedule an interview. and I did NOT complete its secondary application.
The letter says "on the basis of an initial review of your application materials, the committee invites you for an interview..."
Do you guys think the initial review includes August MCAT score?

Thanks.

Had you taken it one other time before?

no

August 2001 MCAT is my only MCAT score.

That's awesome Legi! Congrats!

I've decided not to submit my secondary. I'm hoping to hear from them first. If I don't hear from them, I'm not good enough and can save $$$. If I do, I'll get that secondary in the mail so fast... Did they tell you they wanted the secondary filed pronto?

Again...that's great news for you and inspiring news for us! Good luck!

Congrats, Legi! Vanderbilt is an excellent school.

What's the deal with Vanderbilt anyway? I've heard of several people who got interviews without submitting secondaries. I submitted my secondary 6 weeks ago and haven't heard from them since.

They wanted my secondary filed before my interview date.
I really don't understand.

Definitely apply!
There is obviously something that sticks out in your application whether it be EC's or GPA that balance out your lower verbal in MCAT. So just do it and be happy 🙂
It's a cheap secondary if I remember correctly..only 60 bucks I think.

the deal with vanderbilt is that they went into alternate procedures this year. They are not necessarily "numbers-oriented" because they send invites before the secondary (as some have claimed in the past). Every year before this one vanderbilt would only send a secondary to those it had chosen to interview. Thus the interview decision was based soley on the AMCAS. They are doing the same thing this year, they just opened up their secondary to everyone because they were fearful of not getting any amcas applications until too late in the process. So vanderbilt just normally functions differently than other schools.

Legi, fill out that secondary, write some awesome essays, and get your butt to Nashville! Best of luck to you, vandy is a really awesome school.

Good work Legi!

I have been patiently awaiting correspondence from Vanderbilt after submitting my secondary a long, long time ago. Did you rock the PS and BS sections of the MCAT to make up for the low Verbal? I'm just curious because I don't want to get my hopes up about an interview until I know that I'm competitive there.

Sorry for getting back to you really late.
My PS and BS were 13 and 10 respectively.
But, my writing was 'M' though. 😕
I did complete their secondaries a few days ago, and I think I am gonna go to Nashville since it looks like it will be my only interview.

Vanderbilt can kiss my ass. I spent two days pouring out my "autobiography" on their secondary application. Then they cashed my check and rejected me without an interview. I guess I'm still a little bitter. 😡

Anyway, congratulations, Legi. Vanderbilt is a good school -- depsite their momentary lapse of judgement on my application -- and Nashville is a nice place to live. They obviously liked something about your application, so get in there and kick some butt in your interview.

I had a premonition that they'd do the same to me. I got my reject letter today, but I showed them. I didn't send in the secondary or the check. 🙂

Got my first rejection today (12/18). I sent them an e-mail on dec 7th to ask if my app was complete. The e-mail I got back said they were missing my secondary. I called immediately and the guy who answered said that my app was complete, he took a moment to find it. He was nice on the phone though, even made a joke.
