Looked on their website for 2 minutes and found this http://www.tu.edu/departments.php?id=44&page=251

thanks. can any current students elaborate on these items from the website:

"Medical Subspecialties"
"Specialty Options"
"Surgical Specialty"

also, are you happy with the number electives you'll be getting? i know this might be hard to answer as the inaugural class is OMS-II

We all have blocks next week, so the OMS II's may be slow to answer this, and I am a first year and haven't looked into it much, but I'm sure after next week one of them will get back to you on this...box 29 may even do so before that...

Hey stretch...you got me...The above poster is right:

3rd Year: 2 electives
4th year: 5 non-core that can be done where ever as long as it is approved
Non-Core Rotations:
Primary Care
Medical Subspecialties
Specialty Options
Elective-Primary Care
Elective-All Discipline Categories

Medical Subspecialties:
Allergy/Immunology, Cardiology, Dermatology, Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hematology/Oncology, Infectious Diseases, Neonatology, Nephrology, Neurology, Pulmonology, Rheumatology

Specialty Options:
Alternative Medicine, Geriatric Medicine, Medically Underserved, OMM,
Pain Management, Palliative Care, Pathology, Psychiatry, Public Health, Radiation Oncology, Radiology, Rehabilitation Medicine, Research, Rural, Sports Medicine, Substance Abuse, Toxicology and General Preventative Medicine

Surgical Specialty:
Anesthesiology, Emergency Medicine, General Surgery, OB/GYN, Ophthalmology, Orthopedics, Otolaryngology, Perinatology, Reconstructive and Plastic Surgery, Urology

Elective – Primary Care:

I guess you could say it isn't bad. I'm not quite sure how I feel about it but I think it's okay. At least I have a decent amount of "away" rotations available to go to different hospitals.

wow box29, thanks so much for taking the time. i really did like your school, and i'm trying to make the difficult decision of which school to choose. i found the following post extremely helpful

http://forums.studentdoctor.net/showthread.php?threadid=104541

i'm trying to find out as much as i can regarding that OPs advice. pre-meds here on SDN really do focus on what MikeS_78 sees as irrelevant.

No problem...

Yeah, it's pretty much almost everyone who interviews. What's REALLY funny is the comments we get about our library and how there aren't enough books. Like anyone would want to use all the books in the library anyway...that's why we call it a VIRTUAL/ELECTRONIC library. I mean duh  . Whatever. People will think what they want to think and that is fine.
