question from a neurotic first year

hi all...i just completed my first year...i am so disappointed with my cum gpa already!!!...my school is on a 12pt scale and i have a 8.67!!! it looks so bad...i know its still early but i'm already doubting my chances of getting into med school...the only science course i took for the first year was intro bio...i got a C (my first c ever!!!) first semester and a B second semster but then i got a C+ in an another course (not science)...i know its only my first year but i hate that i'm starting off in not such a great way...what do you guys think?...advice? thanks!!!

First of all, you need to relax and make a decision:

do you want to be a doctor?

If so (and I know you do), then don't give up on it. Find out what you did wrong. Why did you get he C/C+ etc? Was it the class? was it just too tough? did you not study? were you taking too many classes?

You need to take a look at all these factors, and correct them. The good thing is that it's early in the game. Everyone has a story to tell about how they got into medical school--from the 40 MCATS who got 0 acceptances, to the 2.9's who got in, to the 35 year olds who got in after a 10 year job.

Whatever the case, you're down, but you're not out. And you always have time. Just don't quit if it's what you really want do in life!
