I have a question that I need clearing up.

Are recommendation letters required for the primary application (AACOMAS)?

I know it is required for secondary applications.

Also, can the recommendation letter come from my past employers (health-related) or must it come only from faculty members that I had classes in.

In order for my pre-health advisor to write a composite letter for me, she needs three faculty recommendation letters which is a problem for me since I never really established a relationship with any of my professors except maybe one. However, I have great recommendation letters from my previous employers which are both health-related.

Also, do I need a recommendation letter from a D.O.?

Each school is different on what & how many letters. Most want 1 or 2 science faculty or one premed committe letter, and a DO letter. My advice, from my experience, is find out exactly which each school requires via web site or email, and get them 'ordered' well ahead of time, before you fill out the AACOMAS. They go to the individual schools.
