So this is something that has always kinda bothered me but I kinda just brushed over. So symptoms of left heart failure include lots of the SOB, orthopnea fatigueish symptoms whereas right side is more of the backup of fluid showing as JVD, hepatomegaly etc.

What I never quite got is what is causing that sensation of SOB in left sided heart failure. One of my classmates explained it to me as the statis of blood in the lung and the eventual pulmonary edema that causes this sensation. This kind of sense to me but the way I see it in systolic right side failure you can also have stasis of blood in the lung with poor RV EF so why not the SOB!? Can someone shed some light on this please!
