Question: Transferring Between Schools?

Does anyone here have any experience in or knowledge of transferring between medical schools who could answer these questions:

Is it pretty rare to do so?

Is it hard to do (in terms of acceptance on the school you want to transfer to)?

Is it a difficult transition?

Is it more difficult if you transfer from one med school in one state to another in an another state?

Is it possible to transfer from a MD school to a DO school (or vice versa)?

When is it ideal to transer, if that's the only choice you have?

I was going to start a new thread but then I saw someone else with the same questions. I hope someone can help us out. How do you transfer from one med school to another within the same state? Also can you transfer from a DO to an MD school? Only reason I am asking is that I got into a DO school and I would be content going there but in the future I plan to work internationally and the DO degree just isn't that well recognized so I was wondering if there was a way I could transfer after the first year. All I know is that it is EXTREMELY rare but either way, I need some input. Thanks 🙂
