I would say no, it wouldn't be a bad thing.

If they know you well and will write a good letter then thats great!

Would submitting a letter of rec from a DO be bad if I was to apply for an MD school? I have a excellent rapport with the doctor and he is one of the top docs in my area.

Always submit the letter that is going to give you the best LOR. If the physician knows you & can attest to your desire, motivation, & intelligence, submit his letter.

Regardless of what you hear on SDN, there is actually very little DO discrimination outside of pre-med circles.
