Hi Vixen!

I met you at the Pitt interview. I received an acceptance letter from them during the first week of December, but I've decided to go to Univ. of Maryland instead. If you haven't called them to follow up, I would definitely call. Even if your application is under continuing review (i.e., is being compared with applicants who have upcoming interviews), make the call an opportunity to express your continued interest in Pitt.

Best of luck to you and let me know how things turn out!

Vixen,

I interviewed at Pitt a few days before Thanksgiving. All the interviewees were told that accepted students would be notified on the first Monday of December though phone.

The admissions directors didn't quite tell us about those who wouldn't be getting that lucky phone call.

I was one of those who didn't get the phone call. I haven't heard anything else from Pitt until Infosource became available, where it said "applicantion denied" for Pitt status. I was probably one of the first interviewees to have been turned down.
Have you also checked Infosource? What does it say about your status for Pitt?

Yeah, I felt disappointed about the rejection. I guess it just wasn't meant to be. I often wondered why, if anything, I was offered an interview by a small, state school ( I'm not a PA resident; Pitt prefers PA residents ) instead of the larger, expensive ones.

Adding to the ironic twist, I walked to the Dental School from my hotel through a drizzle. I had bad table manners that day and it seemed as if no one was interested in me. During group tours, I felt I didn't belong there. I capped the day off with a poor personal interview ( one dental student told me that I was assigned an aggressive interviewer )and an illegible interview essay. I even remember leaving when it was pouring and I had to squeeze into a crowded airport shuttle bus with all my luggage.

Anyways, check Infosource and/or call Pitt and ask about your status.

Good luck with your pursuits.

vixen,

I remember you told many schools that you were gonna retake your DAT. Maybe they are anxiously waiting for those schools, like you're waiting for them to reply to you. I hope everything works out.

Good luck,

My classmate interviewed at Pitt on 11/25, and she got a call on Dec 2.
My bet is that they are waiting for your new DAT scores, if u indicated so on your application, and if you are currently taking classes, you should also turn in your Fall grades ASAP. Don't wait for aadsas, as they are slow.

I don't want to sound rude, but my feeling is that if you don't turn in these above item soon enough, you will get rejection in mid Feb.
Pitt will start interview again tomorrow, and they will send out more acceptances in mid Feb to fill up their class (their class is small). And that's also the time they finish up this year application cycle, they always try to finish before march. So, if you're not on the waiting list, you will most likely getting the aweful letter after Feb 15.

Good luck to you.

I agree with Tink,

Be aggressive and send in everything the school wants. Even write a letter what you are doing these days (teaching, etc) and show them you are still interested.
